Group Finance Manager
We are seeking a Group Finance Manager for our multi-country operation across Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial management, planning, and reporting activities of the group, ensuring financial integrity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. The candidate will directly manage the Group finance team and Finance Operations while working closely with the Finance Director/CEO and liaising with country financial managers to ensure alignment with the company's financial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise financial planning, budget management, and expense control for all country operations.
- Oversee the consolidation of financial information across all countries, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Monitor the financial performance of each country's operation, identifying areas of improvement and implementing action plans.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the Finance Director/CEO and senior management based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
- Formulate and design financial policies/ planning for effective Balance Sheet management and efficient utilisation of financial resources.
- Formulate and design fees and/or pricing structure/mechanisms for products and services offered by the Company.
- Develop annual, half-year, quarterly, and monthly financial forecasts.
- Review and evaluate business models/ funding.
- Coordinate timely preparation of group/entity cash flows.
- Collaborate and lead the development of the finance system and reporting tools, ensuring they successfully meet all of the company’s needs.
- Ensure functional controls for compliance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements across all operating countries in relation to finance.
- Lead the development and use of forward-looking, predictive models and financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
- Engage with country finance managers to maintain consistent financial practices and processes.
- Work with the internal audit function to ensure the appropriate controls are in place for managing business risks.
Key Responsibilities
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. An MBA or related advanced degree would be a plus.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CMA, CFA, or CPA is mandatory.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in finance roles with at least 3 years in a similar role in a multinational or multi-country operation. Experience in the telecom industry will be a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and experience in financial consolidation.
- Excellent understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
- Proficient in using financial software and databases. Experience with telecom-specific software will be beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of financial risk management.
- Ability to strategize and solve problems.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in English. A good command of French would be a plus.
- Experience working in Africa or with African markets.
- Understanding of the African telecoms market and regulatory environment.
Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel across the countries of operation.
